Tel Aviv. A retired Israeli military officers acknowledge that the Zionist state’s military created a story of heroism in the Yom Kippur War 1973  or the Arab-Israeli War of 1973. The story was later to become an icon heroism in Israel until now.

Renowned newspaper reported the Israeli Haaretz on Sunday, October 30, Brigadier General (ret) Yair Nafshi admitted he make up a story how the commander of the Israeli Defense Forces tank Colonel Zvika Greengold alone destroy dozens of Syrian tank unit in the Golan Heights in October 1973. Meanwhile, Greengold himself during his life never mention the destruction of 60 tanks. He even, according to Haaretz, calling what was written media at the time as “excessive”. In interviews, he said that does not know the actual number of tanks.

He did not respond to new claims accusing the whole story was invented. However, when similar doubts arise in 1984, he said, “They are trying to undermine and defame heroism with which generations of soldiers have been trained.”
